The 23-year-old Wisconsin woman who was reported missing nearly two weeks ago has been found dead, Milwaukee Police Department announced Thursday night.
In a press release, the police department announced that they found Emily Rogers’ body on Thursday afternoon in St. Francis, Wisconsin.
“The Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) is thankful for all the community members that volunteered to search for Emily Rogers along with MPD. Unfortunately, Emily Rogers was found deceased this afternoon in St. Francis. This remains an open and ongoing investigation. Multiple suspects are in custody related to this investigation. The Milwaukee Police Department sends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Emily Rogers that are impacted by this tragedy,” the press release states.
Milwaukee authorities said multiple suspects are in custody related to the case.
Rogers was reported missing on April 26 and was last spotted in the 2500 block of West Becher Street. Volunteers and police officers have been searching for her for over a week.
One of the missing woman’s friends reported finding Rogers’ cellphone in some bushes, and on Monday, investigators searched a park about a half-mile from where the cellphone reportedly was found, FOX 6 Milwaukee reported.
It had originally been reported that Rogers’ 1-year-old daughter was also missing, but police said Tuesday the girl had been located safe, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office said an autopsy is scheduled for Friday, per WTMJ-TV Milwaukee.
