Actor Will Smith was filmed partying on Monday morning at the Vanity Fair Oscars event in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, CA after he slapped stand-up comedian Chris Rock during the live award show.
In the video shared by Variety editors Marc Malkin and Ramin Setoodeh on Twitter, Smith, 53, with wife Jada Pinkett, 50, nearby, joyfully sang along as the DJ played his songs “Gettin Jiggy With It” and “Miami.”
“Asked Will Smith how he’s doing and he said, ‘It’s all love,’” Malkin shared with four pictures of Smith clenching his golden statue.
Rebecca Ford, a spokeswoman for Vanity Fair said Smith was happy smiling for pictures throughout the night after slapping the 57-year-old comedian for joking about Jada’s bald head.
Smith rushed to the stage and slapped Rock on the left cheek after the comedian jokingly said: “Jada, I love you. ‘GI Jane 2’, can’t wait to see you.”
G.I. Jane is a 1997 drama action film in which a female lieutenant with a bald head is given an opportunity to earn her place in navy Seals.
In December last year, Jada opened up about her hair loss condition saying she decided to go bald because she was suffering from Alopecia areata, a condition in which hair is lost from some or all areas of the head.
“Keep my wife’s name out of your f—– mouth,” Will yelled after returning to his seat.
After the event, Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement that Rock has declined to file charges against Smith. Rock possibly followed the advice of Jesus Christ who said we should turn the right cheek to anyone who slaps us on the left.
Taking to Twitter, Smith’s son Jaden supported his dad’s actions, writing: “And that’s how we do It” soon after the incident.
“The Academy does not condone violence of any form,” the organization tweeted after the event. “Tonight we are delighted to celebrate our 94th Academy Awards winners, who deserve this moment of recognition from their peers and movie lovers around the world.”
Will Smith has won the Oscar for Best Actor at the 2022 Academy Awards moments after he punched Chris Rock in a dramatic on-stage scene.
