A wild shooting in a residential neighborhood in Georgia on Tuesday night has left three victims dead, including a field training police officer, police said.
Clayton County police officers responded to reports of a woman and a teenage boy shot at two different locations at about 8:40 p.m. The mayhem unfolded near Jervis Court in the community of Rex, authorities said.
When officers arrived at the scene, an armed man opened fire on them, leading to a shootout. Henry Laxson, a Clayton County Field Training Officer, was killed in the shootout. Another officer, Alex Chandler, was also injured in the exchange of gunfire, police said.
Two other victims died, and according to authorities, the gunman was also shot dead. The boy was transported to a nearby hospital in critical but stable condition, officials said.
WST-TV reporter Ashli Lincoln obtained audio of the shooting, which was captured on a nearby Ring doorbell video. It wasn’t immediately clear what triggered the violence.
