Theo Epstein, 46, will step down from his role as President of Baseball Operations effective from November 20 and depart the organization after nine seasons, the Chicago Cubs announced Tuesday.
Jed Hoyer, 46, who joined the club in Nov. 2011 as Executive VP/General Manager and has been the general manager of the San Diego Padres, and the assistant general manager of the Boston Red Sox, will be named President of Cubs Baseball Operations.
As a front office executive, Epstein is a three-time World Series Champion, winning twice with the Red Sox (2004 and 2007) and once with the Cubs (2016). Epstein has a twin brother, Paul, who is a social worker at Brookline High School in Brookline, Massachusetts.
