Irish writer, academic, influencer, activist and broadcaster Sinéad Burke and the first little person to attend Met Gala is out with her own book in style.
The 30-year-old fashion model started working on the book at the beginning of the pandemic.
Burke wrote on Instagram:
“At the beginning of the pandemic, I found myself with some time. Time to reflect on the things that I’ve always wanted to do, but was a little nervous to undertake – One of them was to write a book. At the start, I didn’t know what the book would be or what it might mean to children, but I started the manuscript with the support of @wrenandrookbook in April, and we began editing each chapter, line and word throughout the summer – just as @nataliebyrne’s exceptional illustrations weaved such depth, playfulness and imagination into the narrative.”
And Later this week, Burke revealed her book will reach many different corners of the world, including it being available to purchase from the bookshop in the Gucci Garden , Gucci’s museum in the heart of Florence.
Burke shared on Instagram:
“Later this week, my book will reach many different corners of the world, including it being available to purchase from the bookshop in the Gucci Garden – @gucci’s museum in the heart of Florence. It means so much, particularly because on the upper floor, my Met Gala dress remains on display with a custom mannequin built from my measurements.
Who will witness this and for the first time feel seen or heard? With the kindness and support of @alessandro_michele and the @gucci team, we broke the mould… and then created a new one.
P.S. If, like me, you can’t travel to the Gucci Garden at the minute, there’s a virtual tour of the exhibition on the Gucci website.”
And Burke just revealed to us today that her new book titled “Break the Mould” is out and selling fast.
“In @antoniasbookstore this evening, it felt very surreal to be signing and dedicating copies of my own book. Notes and orders have come in from all over including Ireland, the UK, Germany, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and so many other places too. I’m really nervous to put this book out into the world, but excited too. In many ways, it’s a manifesto of all of the things I believe in and my hopes for the future mapped out in a toolkit for children (and some adults too). I’m so grateful to everyone who has pre-ordered a copy and reserved a book in their local library. Thank you! Three days until launch.”
Sinéad Burke who is popularly known for her TED talk ‘Why design should include everyone’ has appeared on the cover for The Business of Fashion in May 2018 alongside Kim Kardashian with an interview as part of ‘The Age of Influence’ series.
