A rising star has died. Rapper Slim 400 has been gunned down in Inglewood, a city in southwestern Los Angeles County, California. He was 33.
The Compton-raised rapper was fatally shot on Wednesday night, TMZ reported. It was not clear the rapper got himself involved in the deadly shooting — or how many suspects were involved.
Slim 400’s tragic death was first announced by popular hip-hop podcast “No Jumper” via a cryptic Twitter post:
The Twitter account for the hip-hop blog Passion of the Weiss also paid tribute to the late rapper.
RIP Slim 400. A Compton gangsta rap prototype, an ambassador for a tradition, lineage, and history — who made a whole lot of hard-as-hell rap songs full of sober gravity and blunt force.
Slim 400 had luckily escaped death in the past when he was shot nine times during an ambush while visiting his family in Compton in 2019, according to Vlad TV.
Slim 400, whose real name is Vincent Cohran, was born on June 22, 1988, to military parents, in Frankfurt, Germany. He moved back to the United States as a young child.
The rapper reportedly has a daughter named Parris, born on March 17, 2009.
