Remember the one thing constant in life? It’s change! The 6 letter word might look so easy to pronounce – a monosyllable with just one stress pattern. However, it is one of the hardest act to practice. Humans are more likely to follow a long standing status quo than opt for change.
However, the word change is one which is boldly written in the dictionary of Prince Harry. His bold step to changing the parental upbringing of his child in a different way from how it has been done before tells how much the young prince is willing to change when he feels it’s the right thing to do.
In his words “Isn’t life about breaking the cycle?” Prince Harry has decided to turn things around by raising his son in a different way from how Prince Charles raised him. The ex-military pilot who is now 36, believes that if he has experienced some form of difficulty or some challenges while growing up as teenager due to a certain way of upbringing by his parents, a responsibility has been placed upon him to change the norm.
His words from the May 13th episode of Armchair Expert podcast spearheaded by Fax Shepherd read “…if I’ve experienced some form of pain and suffering because of the pain and suffering that perhaps my father or parents suffered. I’m gonna make sure I break that cycle so that I don’t pass it on.”
According to the English prince, a lot of difficulty and pain have been passed genetically through this stereotyped way of parental upbringing. According to the young prince, “As parents, we should try and make sure we’re doing the most we can. Like, ‘That happened to me. I’m gonna make sure that doesn’t happen to you.”
Choosing to raise his child in a different way has, as expected, been really challenging for Prince Harry. However, his wife, Meghan, has played a supportive role and has been inspiring. In January 2020, they both took a bold step, which many considered a bit more out of the line. However, these two were bent on making the decision to leave the royal house and in January last year, they denounced their roles as top members of the royal family members. Following this, they moved to California. Currently, they live in Montecito.
Few months ago, the young couple opened up and explained to CBS their reason for leaving the royal family. However, Prince Charles, Harry’s father, didn’t take things so lightly with his son. He complained that their move didn’t go well with the Queen. He complained that Queen Elizabeth has had to go through enough dealing with the loss of her husband and that Harry and Meghan’s move made things quite difficult for her.
However, Harry seem not to regret his decisions and has always defended his actions wherever he went. Life outside the royal family might seem difficult but the couple are up to the challenge.
