A deranged Pennsylvania woman is facing murder charges after she allegedly shot her two young sons in the head while the boys were asleep on Monday morning, according to a report.
The 38-year-old mother, Trinh Nguyen, is also accused of another attempted murder for subsequently firing at a neighbor, the report said. Nguyen reportedly fled after committing the senseless crime in Newtown and drove to the parking lot of a nearby church, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The mother attempted to take her own life by ingesting narcotics but failed, the report said. She was busted and taken to the hospital and later charged with three counts of attempted murder.
Nguyen’s two sons, 9 and 13, were severely wounded and were being kept on life support so their organs could be donated.
As the two boys were sleeping in their bedrooms, Nguyen reportedly shot them. During a press conference on Monday, Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub told reporters that a neighbor who heard the gunfire found Nguyen sitting on the front lawn with a box of photos.
Nguyen then handed the photos to the neighbor, identified as Gianni Melchiondo, 22, and asked him to deliver them to her ex-husband. After Melchiondo collected the pictures, the troubled mother reportedly pulled out a black revolver, aimed it at the neighbor and pulled the trigger twice, Weintraub reported.
Fortunately for Melchiondo, the gun did not fire and he wrestled the weapon away from the woman.
