Los Angeles Lakers have earned their 17th NBA title giving LeBron James the title of the Most Valuable Player for the 2020 NBA Finals. Los Angeles Lakers are NBA champions, defeating the Miami Heat 106-93 in Game 6 of the NBA Finals on Sunday night, winning the best-of-seven series four games to two.
The Lakers hold the record for NBA’s longest winning streak, 33 straight games, set during the 1971–72 season. Twenty-six Hall of Famers have played for Los Angeles, while four have coached the team. Four Lakers—Abdul-Jabbar, Johnson, O’Neal, and Bryant—have won the NBA MVP Award for a total of eight awards.
Among others, former President Barack Obama, Arnold Schwarsenegger and Mayor of Los Angeles Eric Garcetti have shown their appreciations to the team.
“Congrats to the @Lakers and @Seattlestorm on their championship wins! Proud of all the NBA and WNBA teams and players who’ve been using their platforms to take a stand for racial justice and encourage civic participation this season.” Obama tweeted.
