In her recent post on Instagram, model Nyakim Gatwech, known on social media as queen of the dark said she overcame everything that was meant to destroy her.
The 27-year-old American model of South Sudanese descent is known popularly on social media for her dark skin color. Gatwech has attracted attention for her natural dark skin color by inspiring people on self-love through her platform and also by posting body-positive photos and powerful messages about loving herself just the way she was created.

What does the model mean by saying she overcame everything that was meant to destroy her?
Gatwech who learned to embrace her beauty and pigmentation has faced self-esteem issues and comments from marketers who promote bleaching products to lighten skin color.
She revealed in 2017 that she was asked by an Uber driver if she could bleach her skin for a $10,000 offer.
“Why on earth would I ever bleach this beautiful melanin God bless with me, Gatwech responded. Than he said so you look at it as a blessing?”
“You won’t believe the kind of questions I get and the kind of looks I get for having this skin.”

“South Sudan, a country with people so dark you won’t believe your eyes.. skin so rich and teeth so bright. Gosh how I love my country my people and everything that come with it.”
