As the nominees for the 2021 Grammys was revealed on Tuesday, rapper Nicki Minaj in a tweet today, calls out Grammys for not winning best new artist in 2012 despite the fact that she had seven songs simultaneously charting on billboard that year. The 37-year-old feels cheated as they gave it to Bon Iver (an American indie folk band founded in 2006 by singer-songwriter Justin Vernon) this year.
“Never forget the Grammys didn’t give me my best new artist award when I had 7 songs simultaneously charting on billboard & bigger first week than any female rapper in the last decade- went on to inspire a generation. They gave it to the white man Bon Iver.”

Beyoncé leads the pack this year with nine nominations, followed by Dua Lipa, Roddy Ricch and Taylor Swift, all tied at six nods. Brittany Howard follows with five nominations, with Megan Thee Stallion, Billie Eilish, DaBaby, Phoebe Bridgers, Justin Bieber, John Beasley and David Frost all tied with four nods.
The Grammy Award is an award presented by the Recording Academy to recognize achievements in the music industry. The trophy depicts a gilded gramophone. The annual presentation ceremony features performances by prominent artists, and the presentation of those awards that have a more popular interest.
Here are some fans replies to Minaj’s tweet:

No she doesnt. But the grammy’s will always be the grammy’s if no other artists spesk about them. So far Nicki is one of few who has exposed them in public. But they not gon listen to a blackballed black female artist
