TikTok influencer Rory Teasley has been strangled to death by his boyfriend of 10 years during a fight over a video game, Michigan’s Oakland County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) reported. He was 28.
On Thursday night, police officers responded to an apartment in Pontiac, a northern suburb of metro Detroit, after Docquen Jovo Watkins called 911 to report that he and his boyfriend Teasley had a disagreement, according to Click On Detroit. Watkins, 31, told officers that he had gotten into a fight with Teasley and that his Teasley was now “sleeping” on the couch.
However, when cops arrived at the scene, they discovered Teasley, a TikTok creator, unconscious and not breathing. The 28-year-old was transported to a nearby hospital, where medics pronounced him dead.
Investigators later found out that Watkins had choked Teasley during an argument over the 2016 shooting game “Overwatch.” Watkins subsequently faces a homicide charge and is being held without bond while he awaits a court hearing on Jan. 18, Oakland County Jail records show.
“We see far too often across the country these days when people resort to violence over trivial and insignificant disagreements,” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard told Click On Detroit. “There is never a reason where violence is acceptable over a disagreement. Those who do so will be held accountable.”
Watkins and Teasley had been together for ten years, authorities said.
Teasley was famous on TikTok with the handle @too2pump4tv. He was known for posting comedy and dance videos to the video-sharing platform, where he had garnered more than 200,000 followers and millions of views at the time of his death.
