Prince Harry plans to return to the UK and see his family for the first time since Megxit in early summer but his wife Meghan Markle is ‘unlikely’ to accompany him in other to avoid a diplomatic drama.
Multiple sources told the Daily Mail that Harry, 36, will travel to the UK to see the Queen, Prince Charles and Prince William – along with his niece and nephews – without his wife Meghan and, probably, their son Archie. No firm plans have yet been made because of the ongoing travel restrictions.
Sources also claimed that Meghan’s tentative decision not to visit the UK with her husband and see her in-laws is for ‘personal and practical’ reasons and is not in any way being construed as a ‘snub’.
Other key royal events the couple are expected to attend in June and July, include Prince Philip’s 100th birthday celebrations and Trooping The Colour, unveiling of statue of Diana and the official celebration of the Queen’s 95th birthday.
‘Harry wants to come back for The Queen and Prince Philip’s big birthdays. But it looks likely he will come alone,’ a source told the Daily Mail. ‘If Meghan comes back with him, the feeling is that it would overshadow the occasion. People would only be looking at the ‘drama’ of it all.
‘Of course she would be welcome, but a decision not to come would postpone that headache for a while at least.’
