Some time ago, news broke of a married school teacher who had sex with a minor. A 15 year old boy to be precise! Her name is Kandice Barber, a 35-year-old teacher at Princes Risborough School, and she was found guilty of “causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity”.
It was alleged that Kandice sent pictures of herself in the midst of sex toys to the boy. She had also sent a live video of herself while masturbating to the young chap, who’s name is being withheld for legal and privacy reasons. It has been confirmed that the teacher, who is married and has children of her own, began messaging the boy in 2018. They have also had sex 3 times. The boy had claimed Kandice threatened to take him down with her if he said anything regarding their sexual encounters. She was also pregnant at the time, and told the boy the child was his.
Kandice Barber, who is a native of Buckinghamshire, has now been sentenced to 6 years and 2 months behind bars. The trial took place at the Aylesbury Crown Court. Prosecutor David Povall described the act as “beyond despicable”. He also gave briefs on the victim’s statements, who said the incident and trial had caused him stress and anxiety. According to the boy, he first came in contact with Kandice at the Buckinghamshire school, where she worked at the time. He also expressed disappointment at the teacher, saying he expected her to help him make the right decisions, but she did the exact opposite.
In the boy’s statement, he says the stress caused by the incident led him to perform poorly in his academics, which reflected in his GCE results. This prompted his parents to move him to another school, where he would be away from his friends, with hopes he would do better academically. Kandice is married to Daniel Barber, who said he and his wife were actually trying for a baby at the time of the alleged sexual misbehavior. They have 3 children together, but they lost the 4th due to pregnancy complications.
After the sentence, Kandice was seen blowing kisses to her husband while she was being taken away to a lock-up.
She is expected to be released in 2027 after serving her time. Regardless, she may never work as a school teacher again, as sexual offenses against minors are not taken lightly in the U.K.
