Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, has become the latest high profile footballer to receive racists messages on social media. Rashford said he received racist messages on twitter after his club’s 0-0 draw with Arsenal on Saturday night. He decided not to share any screenshot of the messages saying it would be irresponsible to do so as there is nothing original in them.
“Humanity and social media at its worst.” Rashford wrote on Twitter. “Yes I’m a black man and I live every day proud that I am. No one, or no one comment, is going to make me feel any different. So sorry if you were looking for a strong reaction, you’re just simply not going to get it here.”
“I’m not sharing screenshots. It would be irresponsible to do so and as you can imagine there’s nothing original in them. I have beautiful children of all colours following me and they don’t need to read it. Beautiful colours that should only be celebrated.”
Rashford’s statements drew mixed reactions from fans as some suggest he should focus more on his football career than paying attention to racial abuses on social media.
Only problem I have with you is you play for man u, ignore the hate, which is probably coming from your own so called fans due to result. You are a great role model for your generation at a time they need it. Good luck from a white old LFC fan ???????????

You just have to improve upon your career, am a truly united fan , straight away from Ghana, sometimes you made me upset a lot , there are some chances we should have scored today and you missed them all, it’s time for Marcus to focused on his career than be on the media

If I was at Man Utd I’d be concerned about my investment. You’re not performing on the pitch, yet always on social media. Decide if you either want to be a Manchester Utd player, or a League 1 player and political activist.
