An American Airlines passenger was arrested after opening the plane’s emergency door and walking on its wing at Miami International Airport. The Miami-Dade Police Department reported.
American Airlines flight 920 from Cali, Colombia, landed at the Miami International Airport on Wednesday around 7:30 p.m. The 33-year-old man, Christian Segura, a passenger on the plane, opened an exit door and started walking on the aircraft’s wing as it was pulling into its designated gate. CBSMiami reports.
According to police, Segura was detained and taken into custody by the MDPD. Segura jumped off the wing when officers arrived. He was initially detained by agents from U.S. Customs and Border Protection and later transferred into the custody of the MDPD. However, Segura did not resist arrest. Local News10 reports.
According to the source, Segura told officers he wasn’t feeling okay. He was then taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital immediately, where he was diagnosed with high blood pressure.
Notwithstanding the incident at the airport, other a spokesperson on board were not delayed and able to exit the plane without issue. A spokesperson for American Airlines in a statement, has apologized to the remaining passengers for the inconvenience.
However, It is unclear if Segura faces any charges.
