A Louisiana man has taken the law into his own hands when he fatally shot a man suspected in the killing of his son.
New Orleans Police have arrested 46-year-old Bokio Johnson after he was accused of fatally shooting a murder suspect and injuring his mother in the early morning hours of March 22nd.
According to the NOPD, Johnson fatally shot Hollis Carter, who was on his way to court to appear before a judge for the killing of an Edna Karr student and his sister.
Carter had been arrested on two counts of first-degree murder charges in March last year for the murders of Caleb Johnson, 18, and his sister Breyiana Brown, 25. Carter was out on a $375,000 bond despite facing those criminal charges.
Investigators believe Cater fatally shot the siblings during a gun sale gone wrong. A third unidentified victim was also reported to have suffered minor injuries in the shooting.
On March 23, Carter and his mom were headed to court when a black Ford F-150 pulled up alongside their car and opened fire into the vehicle. Carter suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene while his mother suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital in a critical condition, according to police.
Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed and positively identified Johnson as a suspect in the shooting. A search warrant was obtained and executed on Johnson’s residence, where he was located. After interview, Johnson was determined to be the perpetrator in the shooting and was placed under arrest. He was booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.
Johnson is facing charges of second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.
Bokio Johnson was listed as the father of Caleb Johnson on the deceased’s obituary page.
