A Louisiana man has been apprehended for conducting a series of robberies in Baton Rouge. The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office said they arrested a suspect identified as Deatnae Mason in connection with a string of ATM thefts around the area.
On March 29, the EBRSO responded to a report of attempted theft of an ATM situated on Coursey Boulevard. According to the Sheriff’s Office report, the suspects abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot when they were unsuccessful in stealing money from the ATM.
Detectives later discovered that the suspects’ abandoned vehicle was a stolen one. In addition, investigators learned that the perpetrators were also responsible for several other attempted thefts from ATMs around the Parish.
While investigating another car theft that was used during an attempted ATM theft, detectives were able to identify Mason as a suspect. On March 28, detectives were able to locate the stolen vehicle and gathered information on Manson.
Manson and another suspect were arrested. Manson was slapped with multiple charges, including theft of a motor vehicle, attempted theft, simple criminal damage to property, possession of marijuana, illegal carrying of forearms with CDS, and pending additional charges by the Baton Rouge Police Department.
