The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office has busted a Louisiana man after he struck a bicyclist to death with his vehicle while on drugs.
According to Sheriff Bobby Webre, detectives arrested Keith Caballero, 64, of Donaldsonville, in connection to a fatal traffic accident. He is charged with vehicular homicide in addition to operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
On Feb. 8, cops responded to a traffic accident on East Bayou Drive in Donaldsonville. Upon arrival, deputies a 39-year-old victim, Jordan Dickerson, suffering from injuries after he was struck by a car as he attempted to cross the road on his bicycle.
Unfortunately, Dickerson was pronounced dead at the scene. Cops launched a subsequent investigation in which the driver of the striking vehicle was identified as Keith Caballero. Investigators collected a sample of Caballero’s blood and urine for a toxicology screening.
On March 18, detectives obtained Caballero’s toxicology results, which showed positive for narcotics. He was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.
