An off-duty Louisiana DPS Police Sergeant has been arrested on Monday on domestic violence charges, according to DPS officials. The department said they were notified of a domestic violence incident involving 36-year-old Sergeant Andrew Poe of Prairieville.
When the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office arrived on the scene and assessed the incident, they took Sergeant Poe into custody for “domestic abuse-battrey.”
The initial investigation indicated that Sergeant Poe was involved in a domestic altercation in which an alleged assault took place, officials said.
Sergeant Poe, who had joined the department in 2018, was immediately placed on administrative leave pending the criminal investigation. Officials said all law enforcement property will be recovered from Poe upon his release.
