Renowned Tennessee rap veteran Juicy Jay has come under heavy fire by fans on his Twitter page for saying he won’t take the Covid-19 vaccine. What aggrieved the fans isn’t just the fact that he’s publicly rejecting the vaccine, it’s also because he glorifies the use of other illicit drugs in his songs. Among his favorite drugs are codeine syrup (which he calls sizzurp), marijuana, and ecstasy pills.
In a Twitter post which he has deleted, he said -. “If I was you, I wouldn’t get vaccinated I would wear a mask & take vitamins.”
Too little too late, as fans had already taken screenshots of the tweet, and used it to blast him.
One fan tweeted – “You told me to sip on sizzurp when I was in the 7th grade. I’ma just sit this one out playa.” In the year 2000, Juicy J and his group; The Three 6 Mafia, released a song titled “Sippin On Some Syrup”, which turned out to be a hit in their hometown of Tennessee, and America as a whole. In the video, Juicy J can be seen drinking syrup from a baby’s feeding bottle.
In his verse, he dropped lines like – “People always asking me, “Is the Three 6 high on that?”/Rolling on them X pills, stuttering, pup-pup powder packs/Wh-wh-where the weed at? Ain’t like that we need that/NyQuil will slow me down, something that keep me easy/Nothing like that yella yella, that’ll have you itching, man. “Ain’t no doubt, hit me when I beep for this refill/Once again, on my weekly high, gotta have that drank”.

The Twitter roasting he received was of immense proportions, as fans bitterly criticized his double-standards when it comes to drug use.
Another fan tweeted – “How can you keep preaching to our kids to smoke marijuana and drink codeine, but advice them not to take the Covid-19 vaccine that could potentially save lives?”. If fans can recall, Juicy J said in a 2014 interview that he felt no remorse for rapping about drug use. He said it is up to the parents to ensure their kids abstain from drugs. He claims that he’s just being himself, and his drug-related lyrics are just a means of telling his story.
He also said he doesn’t want kids to tow his path, but he’s not going to stop rapping about drug-use, as long as he isn’t asking anyone to do it directly. Still, fans have called him a hypocrite for his music, and urged the youths to shun his lyrics and take the Covid-19 vaccine when and where they can.
