President Joe Biden met with a group of Democratic Senators on Wednesday morning to discuss the American Rescue Plan and how we emerge from the crises we face. “One thing is clear: we all agree that now is the time for big, bold action to change the course of the pandemic and begin economic recovery”. Biden said in a statement posted on Instagram Wednesday morning.
According to multiple sources, Biden spoke with the House Democratic Caucus, saying he was willing to compromise on who will be eligible for the next round stimulus checks — but remained firm on the size of the $1,400 payment. Politico reported.
This is Biden’s first meeting with House Democrats since taking office. “Let’s stick together, I have your back and I hope you’ll have mine,” he told House Democrats, making an emotional case for quick action.
Let me be clear: The risk in this moment isn’t that we do too much — it’s that we don’t do enough. Congress must pass the American Rescue Plan to change the course of this pandemic and start our economic recovery.

Biden also revealed in a tweet that the House took an important step toward passing a COVID relief package and getting help to Americans who need it most.
Tonight, the House took an important step toward passing a COVID relief package and getting help to Americans who need it most. I’m grateful for @SpeakerPelosi’s continued leadership as we work to get this pandemic under control and build our economy back better.

VP Kamala Harris also made an emotional statement in a tweet on Wednesday.
“We can’t afford to wait to pass the American Rescue Plan, which will: Get checks to Americans, get more vaccines into arms, get schools safely reopened. Americans are hurting right now, and our administration has a robust nationwide strategy to help communities most hurt by the pandemic. As part of this effort, we’re working with California to launch new vaccination centers in East Oakland and the East Side of Los Angeles.” Harris said.
