Hollywood beloved actor Joseph Jason Namakaeha Momoa, 41, opens up about the financial hardships that he faced after he left Game of Thrones.
After the first season of Game of Thrones, Momoa’s role as Khal Drogo in the show suddenly ended, and it impacted his financial life in a very negative way that he spent several years struggling to pay the bills at the Topanga Canyon house he shares with his wife, actress Lisa Bonet, and their two kids.
The Aquaman revealed during an interview with Instyle magazine published on Tuesday, covering the magazine’s Man of Style December 2020 issue.
Momoa revealed that he and his family were “in debt” and hardly making ends meet, “starving” and having trouble paying the bills and finding a new job was also difficult for the actor.
“I mean, we were starving after Game of Thrones,” he says. “I couldn’t get work. It’s very challenging when you have babies and you’re completely in debt.” Momoa told Christopher Bagley of Instyle Magazine.
Things started improving for Momoa in 2016 when he was cast as Aquaman in the DC Extended Universe films Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), Justice League (2017), and Aquaman (2018).
He will also play Duncan Idaho in Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of the science fiction novel Dune which is set to be released in 2021. And also Aquaman 2 which is set to be released on 16 December 2022.
