Singer Janelle Monae was performing onstage at the 2010 BET “Rip the Runway” show on Feb. 27, 2010, at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York. where her pants split down the middle of the show giving fans a glimpse of her back side.
The 34-year-old singer said in an Instagram post that she has been traumatized by this incident for ten years before finding it funny today on World Mental Health Day.
“It took me 10 years to find this funny. Please do the work to heal your trauma. Respectfully, Janelle captioned the photo.”
Monáe has two new movies out this fall: “The Glorias,” a biopic of feminist icon Gloria Steinem in which she plays Dorothy Pitman Hughes, and “Antebellum,” a reality-warping horror film from the producers of “Get Out.” Monáe has appeared in six movies since her first live-action role in 2016—nine if you count her voice work in “UglyDolls,” “Rio 2,” and “Lady and the Tramp.”
