The long-awaited fourth film in the groundbreaking franchise “The Matrix Resurrections” trailer is here. From visionary filmmaker Lana Wachowski, the new film brings back its original stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss as Neo, and Trinity.
The “The Matrix Resurrections” or simply Matrix 4 will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film will hit theaters nationwide on December 22, 2021. It will be available for stream on HBO Max via the Ad-Free plan in the United States. And on HBO Max for thirty-one days after hitting theaters.

Filming Matrix 4 began in San Francisco on February 4, 2020, under the code name “Project Ice Cream.” While filming in San Francisco, damages were inflicted to buildings and street lights, causing irritation amongst residents and city workers. This led to producers paying a sum of $420,000 to the San Francisco Police Department so they could continue filming in the city. Production on the film was halted in March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, in August that same year, actor Keanu Reeves confirmed filming had resumed in Berlin, Babelsberg Studio, Germany.
Matrix 4 was initially set for release on May 21, 2021, but was postponed to December 22, 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
