A massive manhunt is currently ongoing in DeKalb County, Georgia for a man authorities say shot and killed his wife on Sunday night. The suspect, identified as 50-year-old Salomon Ramos, is wanted for murder. The victim’s family is pleading for the public’s assistance in tracking him down.
“We’re heartbroken…we can’t explain it,” the victim’s son Uriel Ramos said in an interview Monday.
According to Uriel, his mother, Angeles Santos’ suffering at the hands of his abusive father came to a tragic end on Sunday night at their home on Brantford Drive in Tucker.
“He went in there, he grabbed a gun and he shot her with my baby in her hand,” he said. “I was so worried about it…the worst happening…and he did it.”
Uriel recalled leaving the house with his sister just ten minutes before the fatal incident. They were helping sell plates of food his mother often cooked to make extra money.
According to DeKalb County investigators, Salomon Ramos had accused his wife of having another man over the home. Uriel told FOX 5 reporters that his dad battled addiction and they had told him to leave the house permanently about three weeks ago.
“He was always drinking always doing drugs…he was never a good dad to us…she had a big heart and that’s why she was still trying to help him out,” he explained.
With Ramos now on the run, Uriel said his family is concerned for their safety and what he might do next. DeKalb County police believe Ramos is armed and dangerous.
“He’s dangerous you know…he’s not a good person,” his son said.
Uriel said more than anything, his family wants his father caught and they want justice for his mother.
“We need everyone out looking…that’s it. That’s what I owe my mom,” he said.
Family members set up a GoFundMe account to help with funeral costs.
Uriel said he believes his father may be trying to get to Arkansas where he has family or back to Mexico.
