A Georgia man is accused of killing his grandmother and hiding her body inside a freezer for months, authorities said.
Investigators believe the old woman was still alive when she was put into the appliance.
The 29-year-old Floyd County man, Robert Tincher III, was arrested and charged with the murder of his grandmother, Doris Cumming, 83, and hiding her body in a freezer for months.
According to Floyd County Police, the old woman fell in her apartment in December 2021. Investigators said Tincher, who was living with his grandmother, wrapped her body in a plastic bag and put her in a freezer while she was still alive.
According to the warrant, Tincher dragged the old woman through the apartment and “heard and saw numerous bones break”.
Police say Tincher then put her inside a freezer, while she was still alive.
“From what we determined, at the time, he believed she was still breathing and had some movement at the time she was going into the freezer,” said Floyd County Investigator Brittany Werner.
Investigators said Tincher lived in the house with the freezer in the kitchen, for months. He reportedly moved the freezer to another location last month with the body still inside.
Werner also said Tincher told officers he didn’t call 911 because he was wanted for his involvement in terroristic threats made on social media toward his wife, according to Fox 5.
Tincher also told investigators how much he loved his grandmother.
“He said she was the only family member that gave him the courtesy and love and attention he needed,” said Werner.
Cumming’s body has been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab for an autopsy to determine the cause and time of her death.
