Florida Rapper J $tash fatally shot a woman in the presence of her three kids before shooting himself to death, People reported. Justin Joseph, popularly known as J $tash, was found dead on Saturday in Temple City, California. He was 28.
Cops responded to a report of domestic violence around 7:14 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies found the bodies of 27-year-old Jeanette Gallegos, and $tash, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
$tash led Gallegos into the master bedroom and locked the door after both of them had an argument. Their bodies were found in the room.
“The female victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds, while the male victim sustained an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound,” deputies noted, according to People.
“Right now, the evidence at the scene and the preliminary information we have from the children in the home is that it’s a murder-suicide,” Lt. Derrick Alfred told KTLA on Jan. 1 of the incident.
The three children, however, were found unharmed when authorities arrived at the home. The children, who ranged in age from 5 to 11, were immediately removed and sent to live with relatives.
According to the Associated Press, one of the kids phoned their grandmother, who directed them to call 911. However, it’s unclear if the kid made the call before or after their mother was killed.
$tash and Gallegos had been dating for about a year before their deaths. Gallegos’ family, who has expressed their grief over the situation, created a GoFundMe page to raise money for her funeral.
Gallegos’ sister Erika Chavez, who started the GoFundMe page, wrote: “With a heavy heart, my sister passed away Jan 1, 2022. A tragic and unexpected loss for my family & nephews God has gained another angel.”
“My sister was full of life, she was the sweetest most caring person, always there for everyone who needed her. Her favorite quote ‘live today because tomorrow is not promised. My sister leaves behind three beautiful boys who will have to continue living life with what’s left, the memories created with their mommy,” Chavez added.
A police investigation is underway.
