Authorities in south Florida have revealed the identity of the man whose arm was found in an alligator’s mouth in Hungryland Preserve last week. After seeing the arm in the mouth of the alligator, deputies further searched for more clues and found a leg about a mile away, as reported by WFTV.
Now, police investigators say the body parts belonged to Dustin David Mills. The station said the medical examiner identified the victim after taking fingerprints off his hand.
In a Facebook post, deputies said Mills had a criminal history. He had served jail time for drug trafficking as well as violently resisting arrest. His most recent release from prison was in February 2020.
Deputies believe Mills was murdered and buried in a shallow grave, WPBF reported, adding that cops also believe he was “dismembered with an electric chainsaw.”
After the initial body parts were discovered, investigators searched the alligator-infested waters further and retrieved an arm, a hand, and a leg.
No arrest has yet been made and authorities are asking anyone with information about either Mills or his murder to contact them at 220-7060.
