A 29-year-old Florida man has been busted after he was accused of filming two young girls who were trying on clothes in a fitting room at a southwest Florida Walmart store, according to cops.
The 4-year-old and 12-year-old girls were shopping with their father when the incident occurred. The girls reported the incident to their father, who confronted the suspect as he fled the scene on foot, according to Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies started searching for the suspect in the area and found him relaxing at a bus stop a short time later, sheriff Carmine Marceno said during a press conference last week.
According to Marceno, the suspect, Dalton Matheson, attempted to run as soon as deputies began to question him. The man was apprehended and charged with two counts of video voyeurism, resisting arrest, and petit theft.
Marceno said the same man was wanted by the Fort Myers Police Department for similar incidents. The Sheriff said he has no doubt that quick actions by deputies prevented additional young girls from being victimized.
