A family in Florida was shocked to discover a gigantic 11-foot alligator enjoying itself in their backyard pool, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.
The Deep Creek residents heard a noise in the middle of the night in their backyard this week and came out to investigate it.
The family recoiled in horror after finding the massive alligator enjoying a nocturnal swim in their pool.
Specialized alligator trappers helped removed the massive creature from the premises and officials said it ended up weighing 550 pounds and measured roughly 11 feet.
Deputies discovered that the invader tore through a screened enclosure to kick off the pool party.
“Always check your pool before diving in!” read a department Facebook post announcing the incident.
Mating season has started in southwest Florida and officials have warned of an increase in gator encounters.
