A Pennsylvania man who threatened to shoot up his former workplace after being fired has been arrested, authorities said. Khalyl Bey, 27, was arrested in Philadelphia for threatening to return to his former workplace and saying he would shoot his supervisor.
According to authorities, Bey is also said to have threatened to physically assault several other administrative employees. Authorities did not provide information on why Bey was terminated from his job.
On Tuesday, Prospect Park Police Chief Dave Madonna said in a social media post that police had a warrant for the arrest of Khalyl Bey.
“In the wake of the recent mass shooting I’m proud to say that our department and its officers have taken immediate action in launching an investigation and identifying the suspect,” Madonna said in the post. “We continue to monitor the area of the business for any threat.”
“Khalyl, if you are reading this, I encourage you to turn yourself in and you will be treated fairly.”
On Thursday, Madonna returned to social media to report that with assistance from friends in the 16th District of the Philadelphia Police Department, Bey was taken into custody and will be remanded to the George Hill Correctional Facility in lieu of posting bail.
“We would like to thank the 16th District officer who reached out to us after seeing our post,” Madonna said.
