A Michigan TikTok star wanted for armed robbery has been arrested after the FBI identified his sneakers in TikTok videos.
In his videos, 22-year-old Chozen Terrell-Hannah, an aspiring social media influencer, could be seen wearing Nike sneakers with red spots on them while dancing. The shoes matched the ones worn by a thief who had robbed four shops from December to February, according to Fox 2 Detroit.
An anonymous discovered Terrell-Hannah on TikTok and directed FBI agents to his page, which has over 149,000 followers and 1.6 million likes.
Authorities said Terrell-Hannah had robbed a gas station once, a smoke shop, and a 7-Eleven twice.
In each of the operations, the thief was seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt, a mask and white shoes. However, during the last operation, witnesses said they saw pink hair visible under the mask, according to The Detroit News.
Based on witnesses’ descriptions, authorities said they have watched several of Terrell-Hannah’s TikTok videos and noticed that he matched up. In a particular video, Terrell-Hannah can be seen dancing and singing a song with partially dyed pink hair visible.
After obtaining a warrant, the FBI said they tracked Terrell-Hannahcell and phone data showed him in the area of the robberies.
Terrell-Hannahcell was arrested on Wednesday and allegedly confessed to the robberies, the News outlet reported. The FBI said they found a Glock handgun and unique shoes during a raid of Terrell-Hannahcell’s residence.
He is to appear in federal court in Detroit for a hearing as he faces charges of affecting interstate commerce and possessing a firearm during a violent crime, the Detriot News said.
