CEO of Tesla Motors Elon Musk takes shots at President Joe Biden after SpaceX completes its first all-civilian mission. The 50-year-old business magnate took a jab at President Joe Biden on Sunday, the day after SpaceX, his private spaceflight, completed a historic first all-civilian mission.
Responding to a tweet, Musk called Biden a sleeping President after a Twitter user asked him this simple question about Biden: “The President of the United States has refused to even acknowledge the 4 newest American astronauts who helped raise hundreds of millions of dollars for St. Jude. What’s your theory on why that is?”
Musk tweeted back to the user as he wrote: “He’s still sleeping.”
Biden’s lack of support comes after Jeff Bezos, alongside other NASA officials, all congratulated SpaceX, which, on Saturday, returned its Crew Dragon spacecraft from orbit safely.
After spending three days in space, SpaceX, which carried four members of the Inspiration4 mission, came back to earth safely.
Meanwhile, Musk was able to raise over $200 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital thanks to the effort. The all-civilian mission featured the youngest American to become an astronaut to date, the first person to fly in space with a prosthesis, and the first Black woman to serve as a spacecraft pilot.
Musk steals the “still sleeping” mock of Biden from former President Donald Trump, who, during the 2020 election, often called Biden “sleepy Joe.”
Musk, however, has pledged in the past, via social media, to stay out of politics. Moreover, SpaceX has kept a sturdy relationship with the F.G, having won a contract worth $2.89 billion lately to build NASA’s next crewed lunar lander.
