Duane Chapman’s daughter, Cecily Chapman, has dismissed his high-profile hunt of Brian Laundrie as a “publicity stunt.” The 28-year-old woman told the Sun that her estranged 68-year-old dad needs to back off and let the FBI do their job.
“It’s just a publicity stunt. That’s really what it is,” Cecily said of her dad, who adopted her after marrying her mom, Beth, who died in 2019. She questioned how his dad was financing his hunt for fugitive Brian, noting that he has reportedly been shopping for a potential new reality TV show.
“A real network would be aware of the situation, and I’m pretty sure everyone knows that this is a f—ing publicity stunt,” she insisted. Moreover, Cecily described footage of his father wading in swamp water as “totally staged.” She also made fun of his father’s claims of making breakthroughs in the case.
“What, you found a Monster Energy can? What does that do for anyone?” Cecily asked about the empty can her father found at a campsite while searching for 23-year-old Brian. She dismissed her dad’s chances of finding the fugitive before law enforcement.
Cecily honestly insisted the FBI will never let her dad catch Brian, anyway, noting that the FBI is way too prideful for that. Cecily and her sister, Bonnie, become their estranged father’s most outspoken critics. Bonnie has accused the bounty hunter of cheating on her late, being racist, and homophobic.
