TIME magazine have released their 2021 list of the hundred most influential people in the world which features celebrities in various fields such as entertainment, health, politics, business and more. The list tends to recognize 100 emerging leaders who are shaping the future of music, fashion, technology, innovation, politics, business, sports and more.
Starting from artists, the list is divided into five different categories, each highlighting a member of the category: singer Dua Lipa covers the artists category, actor Maitreyi Ramakrishnan covers the phenoms category, footballer Marcus Rashford covers the advocates category, Prime Minister of Finland Sanna Marin covers the leaders category, and fashion designer Telfar Clemens covers the innovators category.
Dua Lipa
Grammy Award-winning musical artist Kylie Minogue describes Dua Lipa as a ‘shining star, blazing a dazzling trail through the pop cosmos’, and also as being kind, cool and smart. ‘She’s a bona fide pop behemoth’. Minogue writes about the 25-year-old English singer. Having released two albums so far, Lipa is known to have been nominated for several awards including but not limited to American Music Awards for new artist of the year, Billboard Music Awards, Brit Awards and more.
Amanda Gorman
Award-winning composer, lyricist and actor Lin-Manuel Miranda praises Amanda Gorman for her original and groundbreaking poem “The Hill We Climb,” which she delivered at President Biden’s Inauguration on Jan. 20. ‘She spoke truth to power and embodied clear-eyed hope to a weary nation.’ Miranda writes. ‘She revealed us to ourselves’.
Charli D’Amelio
Jennifer Lopez Praises Charli for her dancing skills: “When Charli dances, she connects. She’s the biggest new teenage star right now, and it’s not simply that she dances on TikTok. She’s the best at it. When she dances, people want to be like her. Her authenticity comes through the screen.” Lopez writes about the 16-year-old Biggest TikTik star. Charli is currently the most followed user on TikTik with 107.9 Million followers, being the first and only user to have 100 million followers on the platform.
Chloe X Halle
Author, former editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue and co-host of CBS’ The Talk, Elaine Welteroth, praises Chloe X Halle for their strong and steadfast sisterhood. “Watching the evolution of two young, self-possessed Black girls blossom into full-blown women before our eyes is a gift to all who bear witness.” Welteroth writes about the R&B duo. “They are Black Girl Magic personified—and this is just the beginning.” One of the sisters, Halle, will play a Disney princess in her role as Ariel in the upcoming adaptation of The Little Mermaid.
Ana de Armas
Actress and author Jamie Lee Curtis describes Cuban-Spanish actress Ana de Armas as a young and talented woman whose gifts are evident for all to see. “We will all get to remember the moment we first set eyes on her, and watch in wonder and delight as she ascends to the greatest heights our industry offers, buoyed by the depth of her soul and talent.” Curtis writes about the actress. Ana de Armas took to her Instagram page on Thursday to thank Time magazine and appreciate Jamie Lee Curtis for every words she said about her.
