A laundry basket and a sign that reads “Dirty Laundrie come clean” were placed at a memorial for Gabby Petito outside Brian’s family home in Florida. The basket containing the sign also includes other items such as a box of detergent and a bottle of bleach.
The sign has sparked outrage online after a Fox News reporter posted the photo on Twitter. Also in the basket, a can of a Monster energy drink, referencing an empty can Dog the Bounty Hunter came across while searching for Laundrie in a Sunshine State campsite, can also be seen.
In response to the sign, many tweeter users don’t think the basket belongs at a Gabby memorial. User @Sophie_bea thinks it is “Gross” and urged other users not to encourage the behavior. Having such a sign next to Gabby’s memorial is dishonorable, the user said.
Another user, @William2Angel, who claims to be Gabby’s friend, also thinks her memorial should be honored.
A massive search for Brian is being conducted by Duane Chapman, who is currently working to confirm a new tip about his location. Chapman believes Brian, who disappeared on Sept. 14, is hiding in the Appalachian Trail and will eventually be found.
