A man rented a Telsa vehicle and recklessly crashed it into two parked vehicles while doing a dangerous stunt on a Los Angeles residential street, according to wild footage released by the LAPD.
The LAPD, on Sunday, shared the footage in which a black 2018 Telsa S-BLM can be seen going airborne as breathless spectators watched at Baxter and Alvarado street just after midnight in the city’s Echo Park section.
The video shows the reckless driver speeding past the intersection and soaring down the hill dramatically before crashing into several trash cans and two parked vehicles. The driver then abandoned the Telsa at the scene of the misdemeanor hit-and-run crash and Los Angeles Police are now looking for him.
The department is offering a $1,000 reward for information that will lead to the identification of the reckless driver. Several witnesses posted videos of the dangerous stunt. One of the two residents whose cars were crashed into told KABC about the condition his car was left in.
After the crash, passengers in the Telsa hopped out and jumped into another vehicle with friends who were filming the stunt and fled. Nobody was injured but authorities said the stunt could have ended much differently.
The LAPD’s central traffic division said they have received over fifty tips on the reckless driver’s identity and his social media accounts. In a tweet, the Department said they have reached out to the person of interest through one of his social media accounts but he didn’t respond.
Authorities said the driver will face hit-and-run charges once captured.
