A California mom is accused of hosting depraved secret parties for teens. During the parties, the raunchy mom would give teens booze and condoms and even watched while they engaged in sex acts, authorities said.
According to court documents, the mom, Shannon O’Connor, laughed in a bedroom as she watched a drunk teenage boy mounted and groped a girl. O’Connor, 47, kept the parties secret from her husband as well as other parents.
During some of the parties, the 47-year-old mom would get 14 and 15-year-old kids so drunk they “would vomit, be unable to stand, and fall unconscious,” the prosecutors said.
“It took a lot of brave children to come forward and to untangle this deeply disturbing case. As a parent, I’m shocked. As the DA, I’m determined to hold those adults who endanger children fully accountable to the law and our community,” DA Jeff Rosen said in a statement.
O’Connor, who was booked in Idaho, will be extradited to the Golden State, where she will face a laundry list of 39 criminal counts, according to prosecutors. O’Connor, also known as Shannon Bruga, threatened one 14-year-old girl who spoke about the private parties with retaliation that would include people spreading rumors about her.
During one of the parties, O’Connor gave a teenage boy a condom and pushed him into a room where a 14-year-old drunk girl was lying on a bed. According to the statement, the girl, who was afraid, ran and locked herself in the bathroom.
During another party, O’Connor locked a teenage boy with a drunk girl in a room and left. According to prosecutors, the girl was allegedly assaulted. The girl later confronted O’Connor for locking her in a room alone in a highly drunken state, prosecutors added.
“Like why did you like, do that?” the girl allegedly said. “Like, you knew what he was going to do to me.”
O’Connor rented a cottage for the kids in Santa Clara in October 2020. She caused almost $9,000 of damage to the property as the kids were pictured on surveillance footage puking and stumbling around the house.
During the underage gatherings, one boy got a concussion, and one girl broke a pinky finger while some of the teens drove O’Connor’s car in a school parking lot, prosecutors said. Two kids were seen, during that incident, hanging onto the back of the SUV while an unlicensed driver zoomed around the parking lot on Dec. 19.
Prosecutors allege that one of the kids holding onto the back of the SUV eventually fell, hit his head, and briefly blacked out.
O’Connor faces felony charges of child abuse, sexual assault in addition to a $120,000 fraud charge. She had worked as an administrative assistant at Aruba Networks, authorities said.
