Forbes magazine Korea has released its annual list of the top 40 power celebrities that are dominating the entertainment and sports world in Korea. Famous K-Pop groups BTS and BlackPink competed for the leading position without any change, followed by sports stars Ryu Hyun-jin and Son Heung-min.
The appearance of new faces makes the list more interesting. Girl group Twice and top broadcasters such as Park Na-rae and Jeon Hyun-moo, who were in the top rankings last year, disappeared from this year’s rankings.
As expected, BTS ranked first in the power celebrity rankings in 2021. Ryu Hyun-jin and Son Heung-min, who are showing remarkable activities in the US Major League and British Premier League, took 3rd and 4th place, respectively, and Kwang-hyun Kim, who debuted as a major leaguer in 2019 and is currently playing for the St. Louis Cardinals, ranked 6th.
Yoo Jae-seok, who is making a big success in various entertainment programs by going back and forth between the airwaves and cables, has risen to 7th place from 14th last year, proving his reputation as a top comedian.
