Brian Laundrie’s father, Christopher Laundrie, broke cover on Thursday as he joined federal investigators searching for his fugitive son in Florida’s Carlton Reserve. 62-year-old Laundrie was seen cracking a smile with investigators in exclusive photos obtained by the Daily Mail.
Christopher looked very excited as he was spotted helping Investigators in the manhunt for his fugitive son Brian in the vast 24,565-acre Carlton Reserve. However, there are still no signs of the 23-year-old fiance of Gabby Petito.
While Gabby Petito’s grieving parents are waiting for answers about the homicide of their daughter, Brian’s father was spotted cracking jokes with an FBI agent who bizarrely possessed a striking resemblance to his fugitive son.
No signs of Brian were found during Thursday’s search, and investigators also denied the report that a ‘fresh campsite’ had been located on Wednesday. The Laundries family attorney said Christopher or his wife Roberta have no plan to join the search on Friday. However, he said investigators are making improvement in the search, raising hopes that Brain could soon be found.
Authorities revealed on Thursday that 23-year-old Brian, who is the sole person of interest in Gabby’s death, had been placed under surveillance at the time of his disappearance. Josh Taylor, a Police spokesperson, told CNN that authorities were watching Brian closely to the best of their abilities at the time when Gabby was reported missing and not dead. Moreover, a warrant had not yet been issued for Brian’s arrest at the time.
However, Taylor did not provide additional details about how Brain was being monitored or how he was then able to slip through the net. It is not evident if the FBI ever had proof of Brian’s at his parents’ house from when his girlfriend was reported missing to when his family revealed he went hiking and never returned.
The FBI has confirmed that Brain’s family denied police entry to their home to speak with Brian. Instead, they told investigators that their son went for a hike and never returned. The timeline of Brain’s disappearance appears to rest on accounts given by his parents largely.
