Brian Laundrie’s father was seen on Wednesday morning mowing his lawn in Florida — less than 24 hours after Gabby Petito’s autopsy revealed she died by strangulation.
In a video shot by Fox News, Brian’s dad, Chris Laundrie, refused to answer questions from reporters as he kept mowing and trimming the grass around a makeshift memorial set up for Gabby outside his North Port home.
Chris ignored reporters when he was asked about Gabby’s autopsy results, which showed she was strangled to death by a human force during her ill-fated cross-country road trip with his 23-year-old son.
He also declined to comment on his 23-year-old fugitive son, who has been the subject of a massive manhunt after being named a person of interest in his former girlfriend’s case.
Brian’s lawyer Steven Bertolino issued called Gabby’s death “a tragedy” in a statement on Tuesday after the Wyoming coroner disclosed details of the autopsy. Bertolino added that the revelation of Gabby’s cause of death didn’t change the fact that Brian is “only considered a person of interest” in the case.
However, Gabby’s mom, Nichole Schmidt, dismissed Bertolino’s statement on Tuesday, saying that “his words are garbage.” Moreover, the autopsy also revealed that Gabby had died for about three to four weeks before her remains were discovered in Bridger-Teton National Forest on Sept. 19.
However, it wasn’t clear when exactly Gabby died. Blue has declined to comment on any suspects because that’s not their job. Blue told reporters at a press conference. “Who committed the homicide is really to be determined by law enforcement.”
