Local authorities announced on Friday that they found the body of University of Minnesota student Austin Retterath in the Mississippi River, twelve days after the teen was reported missing.
Retterath, who enrolled in the university’s College of Science and Engineering, was last seen alive on May 8 in the area of East River Road and Franklin Avenue in Minneapolis.
On Friday, the University of Minnesota Police Department announced on its Facebook page that they were canceling their missing person alert for Retterath. The announcement comes after the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office had identified the body of a young man discovered in the Mississippi River two days earlier Wednesday as the same missing engineering student.
According to the department and the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, there was no indication of foul play in Retterath death.
His cause of death was not immediately known.
