The bodies of a missing Indiana man and his three young children were discovered in an Indianapolis pond amid a massive search for a father and his kids who were reported missing last week, authorities said on Wednesday.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as 27-year-old Kyle Moorman, 5-year-old Kyle Moorman II, 2-year-old Kyannah Holland and 1-year-old Kyran Holland. A cause and manner and death has not yet been determined.
The week-long search for the missing family came to a tragic end when the body of Kyle Moorman was found in a pond near Bluff Road and Troy Avenue at 7:42 p.m. Tuesday, Fox59 reported.
“Based upon information available to detectives and evidence collected at the scene, there is a commonality with the Moorman family missing persons investigation,” police said in a statement. “Detectives are working to piece together what led up to this incident.”
Moorman was reported missing on July 6, when he left to go to his brother’s house with plans to go fishing with his three children. The family’s disappearance was first shared by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department on Sunday.
Family and friends of the Moormans had offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to their whereabouts. They had searched the pond and the surrounding area for days, The Indianapolis Star reported.
Earlier this week, police said officers searched the area and other locations on foot and using drones.
On Tuesday night, officers were dispatched to the pond following a report of a dead person in the water and police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene. A dive team found a vehicle in the water, and the bodies of three children were inside, police said.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office is yet to determine a cause and manner of death.
