Antonio Brown’s outrageous behavior has overshadowed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ victory over the New York Jets during Sunday’s game.
To say Brown threw a tantrum during the game would be a vast understatement. While the Bucs were on offense, The 33-year-old football wide receiver entered full-on meltdown mode, stripping his pads and jersey before leaving for the locker room.
Addressing the situation during his postgame press conference, Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians quickly confirmed that Brown is no longer Buccaneers.
“He is no longer a Buc,” Arians said. “That’s the end of the story. Let’s talk about the guys that went out there and won the game.”
Just like that, Brown’s tenure and potential NFL career with the Bucs come to an end after he was given a chance multiple times to redeem himself. Brown joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season. Despite the sexual assault allegations against Brown, Tom Brady advocated for him, leading to his release from the New England Patriots in 2019. Earlier this year, Brown also was suspended for three games for obtaining and using a fake COVID-19 vaccine card.
While it remains unclear what exactly led to Brown’s antics, reports state Arians benched the 33-year-old prior to the incident.
Brady and the Bucs managed to get the job done without Brown as the ex-Patriots quarterback led a game-winning drive late in the fourth quarter.
After his sideline meltdown got him kicked off the Buccaneers on Sunday, Brown seems not to regret his actions as he was seen smiling in the back of N.J. driver Danny Chalet’s car.
