Florida authorities have arrested the mother of a 10-year-old girl who shot and killed a woman in Orlando. The mother is expected to appear in court on Wednesday. The girl is in the custody of the Florida Department of Children and Families.
The 31-year-old mother, Lakrisha Isaac, faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a firearm, manslaughter and child neglect.
Orlando police say the 10-year-old girl was present when her mother got into a fight with another woman just before midnight on Tuesday at an apartment complex on Mercy Drive. During the fight, investigators say Isaac handed her daughter a bag in which was a gun, Fox35 News reported.
Investigators say the 10-year-old took out the gun and fired two rounds, which struck the other woman.
The victim, later identified as 41-year-old Leshun Denise Rodgers, was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.
The State Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case for potential charges for the 10-year-old child.
