A Georgia man accused of murder was released from jail on bond last Friday, but then was shot and killed just hours later, according to the Bibb County coroner.
Just before 9 p.m. Friday, 27-year-old Damien Felton, of Macon, was released on a $75,000 bond. He was shot and killed outside his home on Saturday morning, WSB-TV reported.
Felton was jailed on murder charges in the death of 26-year-old Amond Norwood, whose body was found in May 2021 under a mattress by a man walking near an illegal dump yard.
Felton was one of three suspects apprehended in connection to Norwood’s death. He was arrested in the same month on unrelated gun and drug offenses and later charged with murder and concealing the death of another.
The Sheriff’s Office has not said if they have identified any suspects or a motive in Felton’s death. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation.
