A 19-year-old South Florida woman was apprehended on Thursday after she allegedly fled from a deputy who tried to stop her for reckless driving in the Florida Keys, officials said.
The woman, identified as Janiya Shaimiracle Douglas, 19, told the deputy, who eventually caught up to her, that getting arrested was on her “bucket list.”
She was charged with fleeing and eluding, Monroe County Sheriff’s officials said.
The deputy spotted the woman’s vehicle driving recklessly just before 8 a.m. Thursday. The officer turned on his lights and siren but the vehicle did not immediately stop.
Before she was taken into custody, Douglas told deputies that getting arrested had been on her bucket list since high school, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
