Florida authorities are searching for a woman accused of stealing $200,000 worth of luxury timepieces from a man she met at a club in Miami.
The victim told investigators that he and the woman, identified as Cynthia, recently met at a venue and he invited her to his luxury apartment around 1:30 a.m. Saturday to get to know each other better, according to CBSMiami.
The man said he eventually fell asleep and woke up to discover that his high-end watches were gone — and Cynthia was nowhere to be found.
A surveillance camera captured the woman entering an elevator at 10:30 a.m. while puffing on a vape and leaving the building in a ride-share, investigators said.
Miami police warned nightclub goers to be careful when mingling with strangers and said pricey heists have become commonplace after late-night hookups.
“When you get to know someone or meet them for the first time, they are still considered to be a stranger, so we do not recommend you invite them up to your place or residence,” Miami cop Kiera Delva told CBS Miami. “Normally places have a lounge area where people can sit around or talk and that is what is recommended.”
Delva said the suspect would likely prey on someone again — and that men should mind their Movados while out on the town.
“She is quite brazen,” Delva said. “While she does not appear to have been on our radar screen in the past, there is no doubt she will strike again.”
No arrests have been made in the case.
