At least one juvenile at Glen Oaks Middle School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was rushed to a local hospital on Wednesday afternoon after officers with the Baton Rouge Police Department responded to a possible overdose, according to emergency responders.
A spokeswoman for the Glen Oaks Middle Redesign School said several students became ill after another student passed around chewing gum, 9news reported.
The school was placed on lockdown and an investigation was launched. State testing has been paused on campus as authorities respond to the incident.
As of 1 p.m., authorities confirmed that three students were evaluated and one was taken to an area hospital, but all three were reported to be in stable condition.
